SkiWelt Fact & Figures

SkiWelt is Austria's largest inter-connected ski arena and comprises 93 lifts and cable cars and 250km of piste. 140km of piste can be covered by the numerous snow cannons at the various lift companies disposal, so if it's not snowing but it's cold you can be sure you'll be able to ski.   SkiWelt is ski-able on the SkiWelt Lift Pass, which is the usual lift pass issued in Scheffau.  An added bonus for those staying in Scheffau is the VIP entrance at the gondolas - just because you're our guest!

SkiWelt comprises the villages and pistes of Going, Ellmau, Scheffau, Soll, Itter, Hopfgarten, Brixen and Westendorf and covers the vast majority of the Kitzbuheler Alps.  Mountain restaurants and Hutte (mountain huts) are dotted around the piste so you're never very far from a warming drink, whatever your preference.  In fact there are 73 traditional huts in the area.

Scheffau is particularly child friendly with an excellent ski-school and Kinder Kaiserland, the children's ski park where your little ones can learn to ski in a safe child-friendly environment.  Adult ski school is also excellent here and throughout SkiWelt English is the second language of most instructors - it's also the second language of the Tiroler Ski Lehrer Verband, the examining governing body for ski instructors and ski schools.

Scheffau is also an excellent place for adults wishing to learn to ski - all lessons start at the top of the gondola on the mountain baby slopes and not the baby slopes in the valley so you get off to a great start.

Pistes vary throughout the area from family friendly slopes, nursery slopes in the villages and beginner's slopes at the top of the Brandstadl mountain in Scheffau.  Add to that moguls for the more experienced and approximately 6km of deep powder slopes, blue, red and black runs and off-piste potential and you'll doubtless find something to delight you  in this ski circus.

Throughout SkiWelt there are 19.5km of floodlit toboggan trails and night skiing is possible in nearby Soll and Ellmau.  Snowshoeing, 170km of cross-country (langlauf), snow board and over 300km of prepared winter walking paths means there's a lot of winter fun to be had throughout the SkiWelt area, at the heart of which lies the village of Scheffau.
